This weekend, a trio of warbands join the ultimate competitive miniatures game, each with their own cards, play style and opportunities for glory. We had a look at Rippa’s Snarlfangs yesterday, and today, we’re previewing Ironsoul’s Condemnors and Lady Harrow’s Mournflight – a pair of powerful contenders that were previously only available to fans in the US and Germany. The Fighters – Ironsoul’s Condemnors Like all fighters in Ironsoul’s Condemnors, Gwynne herself is slow, tough and hard-hitting. Starting the game as a reliable damage-dealer, she becomes utterly brutal upon Inspiring, with Knockback 1 allowing her to punt enemies into lethal hexes to finish them off. Her Inspire condition is simple to meet too, rewarding aggressive front-line play. Brodus is another simple, effective and deadly fighter. Knockback 1 again provides him with a key advantage at the start of the game, allowing you to mess with enemy positioning and use terrain to your advantage. When Inspired he’s incredibly flexible gaining Cleave and Scything, which are perfect for getting rid of tougher foes or taking out several squishy enemies at once! On the surface, Tavian looks like a defensive fighter, but look closer at his abilities and you’ll see he’s an incredibly proactive combatant who rewards rushing your enemies. Tavian’s niftiest abilities appear when he’s Inspired. By using Shield Rush, you’ll be able to bump enemies off objectives (with Knockback 2, no less!) before rushing onto the objective yourself. How They Play Ironsoul’s Condemnors play much like other Stormcast Eternals warbands. Steelheart’s Champions or Stormsire’s Cursebreakers might consider an objective-based play where they hold back, but you’ll want to play aggressively with Ironsoul’s Condemnors, getting up close to the enemy and dominating territory with their access to great Knockback abilities. With their high damage output and generous Inspire condition, ensure they’re spending as much time fighting as possible – deploy close to your enemy, charge early and smash face! Top Cards Ironsoul’s Condemnors have an excellent selection of warband-specific cards, giving them deadly burst damage that allows you to knock down enemy fighters in a single attack. Vengeful Strike is one of our favourite ploys, punishing any who would dare to attack you and giving you another chance to Inspire your fighters. For upgrades, Punishing Blow is a single-use option that’s ideal for when you truly, deeply need an enemy dead, while for objectives, we’d recommend Your Turn! – a fantastic Surge option that’ll give you some extra glory for pushing an enemy to what will almost certainly be their doom! The Fighters – Lady Harrow’s Mournflight Lady Harrow is fast, very solid in close combat and boasts respectable defensive characteristics, with an always-welcome 2 Dodge. Capable of ignoring lethal hexes and moving through blocked and occupied hexes, you’ll be able to hunt down enemies pretty much anywhere on the board. Use her to finish off foes before she Inspires, then to hunt down armoured enemies afterwards once she gains Cleave. The Anguished One is more fragile than Lady Harrow, but her Piercing Chill Blade has a handy ability when she Inspires, negating enemy critical successes on defence. This has a small but significant effect and makes her great for countering fighters with lots of defence dice. The Screaming Maiden’s trick is the vast number of attack dice she throws around when Inspired, plus her bonus +1 Damage on critical hits. Combined, this means she’s an unpredictable but dangerous fighter. Widow Caitha is even more mobile than the rest of Lady Harrow’s Mournflight, capable of popping up out of nowhere when Inspired. With her Wicked Chill Blade, she’s also a solid source of damage early in the game. How They Play Where Ironsoul’s Condemnors specialise in burst damage, Lady Harrow’s Mournflight excel at attritional tactics, spending their first activations picking away at enemies with relatively low damage attacks before finishing them off when Inspired. Where possible, you’ll want to try and move through enemies as you make Charge actions with this warband, ensuring that the next time you activate them, they’re Inspired. Top Cards The gambits, upgrades and objectives available to Lady Harrow’s Mournflight suit their fast-moving play style. Shared Agony is a ploy that’s fantastic for finishing an enemy fighter, or just restoring some health to a fragile one, and can spell the difference between life and death in many encounters. Soul Leech, meanwhile, is another great source of indirect damage, letting you hurt enemies just by moving through them! Inescapable Hunger is a great way to grab the glory, rewarding you for moving through a blocked hex to ambush an enemy.
